RONNIE HEFFRON will fight anyone - even himself! This unusual punch was captured by photographer Darren Robinson at a recent training session. Ronnie said: “It does look kind of strange I was clearly going for it on the pads, so whether my right hand has ricocheted against my face somehow, I don’t know. “It’s not something I noticed at the time - and it didn’t hurt!”
BOXING: OLDHAM’S Ronnie Heffron wants to turn on the style in his home town before looking for a potential shot at a British title.
Twenty-three-year-old welterweight prospect Heffron, a former ABA champion, is back on track following his first professional defeat last November.
Since that Commonwealth title bid failed, Heffron has strolled to two routine points victories.
Heffron said: “I’m ticking over nicely again now, but up among the contenders for the British title is where I want to be.” Heffron is currently ranked 17th.
“I’d like to get on to the bill for the show at Oldham Sports Centre on October 5 — then after that who knows?”
