THE Manchester City camp is full of confidence after a rampant 4-1 victory over United.
Our opponents could not cope with us in a breathless first half and two quickfire strikes after the interval put the outcome beyond doubt.
I wasn't surprised by the quality on show and there were too many good performances to single people out – an absolutely superb team effort.
We looked strong, assured and quick, and when the chances were created we were clinical in front of goal.
What I was slightly surprised by was the lack of fight in the United performance, with the exception of Wayne Rooney, who continued his excellent record against us.
They didn't threaten Joe Hart until the closing stages, by which point the three points were as good as secure. But we can only concentrate on ourselves and the victory put a spring in everybody's step, that’s for sure.
It was our best display since the opening-day defeat of Newcastle United.
We will take that confidence into tonight's Capital One Cup clash with Wigan Athletic, again at the Etihad Stadium.
While we are strong favourites to progress at the expense of Owen Coyle's team, there is a slight edge to the game due to the fact that it is our first meeting with them since they beat us in the FA Cup final in May.
Everyone will be keen to set the record straight and reach the next round, especially in front of our own supporters, who were fantastic throughout the derby. I am sure they will be in fine voice once again with the weekend's win still fresh in the memory.
