Val’s honesty paying off

MANCHESTER United legend Bryan Robson believes Antonio Valencia was right to give up the number seven shirt.
The winger was given the shirt - previous wearers have included Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo - at the start of last season.
Having been named player of the year in his first season, Valencia found the going much harder and decided to switch back to his old number, 25, this campaign.
It seems to have paid off: the Ecuadorean is holding down the right wing spot under new manager David Moyes.
It’s been a landmark week away from Manchester for Valencia, who helped Ecuador book their place at the World Cup finals in Brazil next summer. Valencia will now hope to end the week by helping United beat Southampton in the Barclays Premier League tomorrow at Old Trafford.
