Bookies expect some respite for Moyes

SPORT BETTING:

THESE are testing times – and that’s putting it mildly – for David Moyes.

While I am not suggesting his job is under immediate threat, the landscape in English football has changed significantly since the time his predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson was given over four years to land his first major trophy for Old Trafford.

Moyes knows United must deliver. Finishing outside the top four in the Premier League and missing next season’s Champions League would be unthinkable for a club intent on attracting world-class talent during the summer.

And, with the current Champions League surely out of reach for this United team and the FA Cup gone already, Moyes is running out of viable targets.

The Capital One Cup remains a trophy United can win even though neighbours City are waiting for them in the final.

But first United must get past a Sunderland outfit who beat them 2-1 in the first leg of the semi-final.

That won’t be easy for a team short on confidence — and probably without van Persie and Rooney too.

United are 4-11 to win tonight’s game at Old Trafford, with the draw 9-2 and Sunderland 10s. I think these odds underestimate Sunderland’s chance.

DON’T panic, insists Athletic boss Lee Johnson. I agree, but the relegation zone is creeping up on the Latics and they are down to 4-1 (from 6-1 a few weeks ago) for the drop.

Come on lads, roll up your sleeves and get out of this mess. Fast.
