YOU’VE got to give credit to Chelsea for the way they played at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night.
They were pretty decent. It was probably just one of those nights when things didn’t go for us.
Chelsea did well, but City squandered chances too, and we really missed a number of players who were out injured.
A lot of hopes were pinned on Alvaro Negredo up front, but he wasn’t 100 per cent as he’s got a bit of shoulder injury at the moment. City were also without Aguero, Nasri, Fernandinho and Lescott – to name just four – and when the manager has an injury list like that to contend with, it it always going to be a difficult task.
There were too many players who were under-par for City, though, and Chelsea could have scored more if it hadn’t been for the woodwork.
It just didn’t look like the free-scoring team we’ve been used to of late, and I suppose results like this just keep throwing the title race wide open again.
It’s a little blip, but it’s good from a neutral’s view I suppose.
