Hero’s welcome awaits Rosler

WITH the Capital One Cup already tucked away in their trophy cabinet, Manchester City switch their focus to the FA Cup at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
The lure of a second trophy will provide sufficient motivation to succeed, but there is also the matter of revenge when Championship side Wigan roll into town for the quarter-final tie.
Wigan famously beat City 1-0 in last season’s final at Wembley.
One of the greatest shocks in the history of the FA Cup was avenged to some degree when City saw off Wigan 5-0 in the Capital One Cup last September. But that was before Uwe Rosler took charge at Wigan and the German, who was today named Championship manager of the month for February, has had a galvanising effect on a club now chasing promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
Rosler is a cult figure among the City fans, who remember him as a committed striker who always gave 100 per cent. Those same fans supported Rosler when he was seriously ill.
City will be in confident mood after their 3-1 Captial One Cup final success against Sunderland and it is likely that star striker Sergio Aguero will start after playing in the first half against the Black Cats.
