OF course the City camp was hugely disappointed during the trip back from Anfield on Sunday.
Perhaps a draw would have been a fairer result looking back at the balance of play, but defeat doesn’t mean City are out of the Premier League title race just yet.
I guarantee there will be more twists and turns over the next three or four weeks.
Don’t forget Chelsea have still got to go to Anfield, so there will be points dropped there. If City can win all their remaining games we won’t be too far away.
It was really unfortunate that Vinny Kompany’s error was to prove so costly. To be honest he and David Silva probably shouldn’t even have been playing - neither were fully fit, but that’s just testament to both player’s determination and bravery.
It’s back to base for the next two huge games for City. Sunderland come to the Etihad tomorrow night and then its West Brom on Easter Monday. Six points from those two games and we could be right back in the mix.
There is still huge optimism around the club. Yes, the onus has shifted towards Liverpool and Chelsea now, but City will keep chipping away.
There’s a few injuries to contend with again – Yaya Toure’s is particularly concerning as he is such a major part of the team – but this is where squad strength in depth comes into the equation.
We’re still in for an exciting climax to the season!
