Doherty’s academy challenge
Date published: 16 May 2014
SNOOKER star Ken Doherty is in town next Tuesday.
The 1997 world champion will be at Oldham Snooker Academy to take on 10 players from the Chadderton, Oldham Amateur and Cueist Leagues, as well as developing players from the academy.
Doherty is the only person to have won the junior world title, world amateur crown and world professional championship.
Despite being in the autumn of his career, he is still a force to be reckoned with - as he showed when reaching the last 16 of the recent world championship. Tuesday’s exhibition starts at 7pm, spectators welcome.
