Oldham to stage world qualifier
Date published: 25 July 2014
OLDHAM hosts the North-West ping pong world qualifier on Saturday.
Dozens of players are set to converge at the Radclyffe Athletics Centre, Hunt Lane, Chadderton (start 12.30pm).
The event, organised by Mathchroom Sports, starts with a group stage, followed by a knock-out.
There are 16 qualifying events throughout the country. The best three results from these count towards the final standings, from which the top four go through to the finals.
This takes place at Alexandra Palace, London, on January 24-25.
Ping pong differs from table tennis as players use sandpaper bats, which are provided on the day.
The Oldham qualifier is backed by OCL and Chadderton District Executive.
Places are still available. Entry forms can be downloaded from oldhamttclub.co.uk/ forms
Alternatively, players can turn up on the day — registration is at 11.45am — and cost to enter is £20 for adults and £10 juniors.
