Pellegrini: our squad is the best
Date published: 25 August 2014
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is convinced his champion squad is still the strongest in the Barclays Premier League.
City play host to last season’s runners–up, Liverpool, at the Etihad Stadium tonight (8pm).
Pellegrini’s summer recruitment has been modest in comparison to others, but City was already in a position of strength and has “complete faith” in his men.
City have bolstered their squad with the addition of defenders Eliaquim Mangala and Bacary Sagna,
midfielder Fernando and goalkeeper Willy Caballero. England midfielder Frank Lampard, on loan from sister club New York City, can temporarily provide an extra option.
Selection headaches are something Pellegrini is looking forward to: “When you have good players it’s easy because when you have so many games in the season you need to change them.”
