Moyes didn’t realise size of Reds task

SIR Alex Ferguson doesn’t believe David Moyes realised the size of the club he was taking on when he replaced his fellow Scot as Manchester United manager.
Moyes ended a relatively successful spell at Everton to replace Ferguson at the Old Trafford helm in the summer of 2013, but was to endure a torrid time as the Red Devils missed out on European football. He was sacked in April this year.
Ferguson had departed United after 26 years that included winning two European Cups and left Moyes with a squad that had just won the Premier League title.
In excerpts of his updated autobiography, published by the Guardian, Ferguson defended the players he left behind and claimed Moyes didn’t fully realise what he was taking on.
In the immediate aftermath of Moyes’ appointment at Old Trafford, it was widely suggested Ferguson had picked his successor, but the 72–year–old was at pains to point out it was a club decision.
