Carrick wants to stay with Reds

MICHAEL Carrick, who pulled out of the England squad through injury last night, has spelled out his desire to sign a new contract at Manchester United.
Carrick pulled out of England’s squad after suffering a groin injury in training.
The 33–year–old will start his rehabilitation at Carrington later this week and Louis van Gaal will hope to have the midfielder fully fit by the time his Manchester United team take on Arsenal on Sunday, November 23.
Carrick has only played twice for Van Gaal because of an ankle injury just before the Dutchman took over. But he is happy with life under the former Ajax coach and he is keen to extend his contract, which expires next summer.
The club is yet to begin discussions with Carrick, but the former Tottenham midfielder is not concerned.
