LVG hails United’s smash and grab raid
Date published: 24 November 2014
MANCHESTER United manager Louis van Gaal always felt Arsenal would prove vulnerable at the back after his side completed a smash–and–grab raid at the Emirates Stadium.
United recorded their first away victory under the Dutch boss, winning 2–1 after weathering an early onslaught from the Gunners.
At the start of the second half a bizarre own goal from defender Kieran Gibbs helped to turn the momentum for United, with captain Wayne Rooney clipping home a late second on the break as Arsenal were exposed. While the Gunners are down in eighth, United now move to fourth place.
