Kompany worry for in-form Blues

MANCHESTER City captain Vincent Kompany was set to find out today if the hamstring problem he suffered against Southampton has more serious consequences.
Belgium centre–back Kompany struggled towards the end of City’s 3–0 victory at Southampton yesterday and faced scans to determine the extent of the injury.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini confirmed Kompany will be assessed ahead of his side’s Barclays Premier League trip to Sunderland on Wednesday night. Pellegrini could be forced to rejig his defence if Kompany can’t play.
City eased past Saints on the south coast, making light of referee Mike Jones’ controversial decision not to award a penalty when Jose Fonte upended Sergio Aguero.
Jones instead booked Aguero for diving, before City took control through goals from Yaya Toure, Frank Lampard and Gael Clichy.
Southampton’s first home defeat of the season carried ominous portents for a packed December that could prove to define their season.
