ENGLAND defender Phil Jones has signed a new deal with Manchester United.
Jones, who joined the club from Blackburn in 2011, will now be at Old Trafford until June 2019.
After the new contract was announced, Jones (23) said on the club’s official website: “I am delighted to have signed a new deal. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here so far and am looking forward to continuing my development as a player.
“This a great club to be part of and I cannot wait to start the new campaign. I would like to thank the manager, coaching staff and fans for their continued support.”
Red Devils’ manager Louis van Gaal has been impressed with Jones’ professionalism since he took the reins at the club in May last year.
“We are delighted that Phil has signed a new contract,” Van Gaal said. “He is a talented footballer with great versatility and can play in a number of different positions.”
Jones has 17 senior England caps and has also represented his county at Under–19 and Under–21 level.
