Aguero taking risk-free approach
Date published: 14 August 2015
Sergio Aguero is taking no shortcuts as he bids to prove his fitness for Manchester City’s clash with champions Chelsea on Sunday.
City’s star striker played only the final half hour of Monday’s season–opening 3-0 Barclays Premier League win at West Brom. Like last year, manager Manuel Pellegrini is easing the 27-year-old back into action after international duty.
Aguero was a substitute for the first two matches last season but went on to score 32 goals in 41 appearances. The Argentina forward told the club’s website: “Whether I start or not remains to be seen.
“I’m trying to get there and be in top condition, but arriving for pre-season later having taken part in the Copa America with Argentina means I need some additional time.”
