Pellegrini is main man

MANCHESTER City boss Manuel Pellegrini has been named Barclays Premier League manager of the month for August.

City have enjoyed a superb start to the season – in contrast to most of the clubs considered to be their main rivals for the title. Under Pellegrini, City have won all four of their league fixtures, scoring 10 goals and conceding none.

They face arguably their toughest task of the new season tomorrow, when second-placed Crystal Palace are the hosts. Palace leapt up the table with a 2-1 win at Chelsea in their most recent fixture, continuing their fine form since the managerial appointment midway through last season of Alan Pardew.
