Delph’s belief intact despite shut-out

FABIAN Delph is backing Manchester City to bounce straight back after being held to a goalless draw at home to Everton.

The England midfielder (26) watched as referee Roger East failed to award his side a last-gasp penalty when Raheem Sterling tangled with Toffees centre-back John Stones.

With Crystal Palace the visitors to the Etihad Stadium tomorrow, Delph — who hopes to get the nod from Manuel Pellegrini to play — accepts the visitors, eighth in the Barclays Premier League table, will fancy their own chances.

But City’s quality should prevail, the ex-Aston Villa man argues: “I felt we should have won the Everton game and it’s a pretty fair shout to say we should have been awarded a penalty as well,” Delph said.

“Yaya Toure had a good chance, but the ’keeper made a great save.

“Overall we created enough chances to have taken all the points, but if you can’t win you have to make sure you don’t lose. We took a point out of it and now move on to the next game.”
