Sterling sets sights on top

MANCHESTER City’s big-money summer signing Raheem Sterling is targeting a return to the top of the Barclays Premier League table - sooner rather than later.
The Blues travel to West Ham United tomorrow where victory could edge Manuel Pellegrini’s men above leaders Arsenal and second-placed Leicester.
Sterling (21) enjoyed the adulation from his new fans when City were looking down on the rest before Christmas, and he’s keen to hear those cheers again.
The City and England front man previously admitted he was disappointed Liverpool supporters didn’t have a song that celebrated him when he was at Anfield. But he has lapped up the praise from the Etihad Stadium stands – and is after more.
“The fans sang my name and that we were top of the league,” he said. “It was a nice feeling. We have to get back to the top so they can start singing it again. Hopefully that will happen in the next couple of weeks.”
