Election 2011
VOTERS in Oldham East and Saddleworth aren’t the only ones going to the polls — primary school children are holding their own election.
Friezland School is conducting a mock election to teach pupils about democracy and politics. So politicians from the major parties who are hopeful of snatching the seat on Thursday visited the Greenfield school while on the campaign trail.
Lib-Dem candidate Elwyn Watkins was accompanied by his party’s children’s spokeswoman Annette Brooks.
Labour candidate Debbie Abrahams was joined by shadow minister Yvette Cooper. Tory candidate Kashif Ali is expected to visit today.
