Nellie: man remanded

MARK Royle (37) of no fixed abode appeared at Manchester Crown Court yesterday charged with the manslaughter of Shaw pensioner Nellie Geraghty.
The charge follows the death of the 79-year-old great-grandmother, who was found unconscious and with head injuries in an alleyway near her home in Elizabeth Grove on November 24 last year. She later died from her injuries. Royle was remanded in custody until his next court hearing in May.
