STEVE Hill really is a man on a mission.
The deputy head teacher at St Joseph’s RC Primary School in Shaw has raised £7,000 for three charities with help from his enthusiastic Year 6 class.
Their fund-raising events over the last few months will mean large amounts for the Christie Hospital, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and Oldham’s newly-opened youth centre, Mahdlo.
Mr Hill and his class have exchanged their unwanted clothes for cash, sold toast and cakes, held a dinner, made mince pies and even sang in supermarkets to raise the bumper total.
The teacher said: “This incredible amount is simply down to the enthusiasm of my fantastic class and the support of the whole school community.
“The children have been brilliant.”
