Shaw’s roadwork misery at the double
Date published: 20 April 2012
traffic was reduced to a crawl in Shaw yesterday when resurfacing work added to existing lane closures brought chaos.
The town suffered a double whammy as both Manchester Road and Oldham Road faced disruption.
Traffic came to a standstill in Manchester Road, where one lane has been out of use for several weeks for resurfacing.
The problems worsened when workers descended on Oldham Road with erecting temporary traffic lights, causing afternoon tailbacks.
One Heyside driver, said; “It just completely isolated Shaw. I had to take a long diversion around Royton in the end to get home — it was an absolute nightmare.
The works on Oldham Road were cleared for the rush hour.
