£700 reeled in

TWINGATES Angling Club raised around £700 at a charity fishing match for the Oldham Disaster Fund last weekend.
A CHARITY ghost hunt is taking place to raise cash for victims of the Shaw gas explosion. From 8.30am-2pm on Sunday, August 26, visit Smithills Hall in Bolton to visit three mediums — Barrie John of “Most Haunted”, Kevin Brough and Bill Nicholson. GET involved with the summer reading challenge with Royton Library and Oldham Coliseum. Explore how stories and characters are made, from 2 to 3pm, on Thursday, August 9.
DISCUSS police issues at a surgery from 9.30-10.30am tomorrow, at Shaw Library, Farrow Street.
VISIT the Dachau crucifix at St Anne’s Church, Royton, from 10am-4pm on Saturday. The sculpture was created as a memorial to human suffering and was first shown in Oldham in 1968.
RED wristbands in aid of Shaw explosion victims are being sold for £1 on eBay, at the Cricketers Arms and at Brew’n’Chew, in Linney Lane, Shaw.
