Reading challenge

A SUMMER Reading Challenge was taking place at Royton Library from 2 to 3pm today. Visitors were expected to explore how stories and characters are created with help from Oldham Coliseum.
CROMPTON House School is holding fun activities including arts, crafts, sports and robot-making from 10am tomorrow. Under-11s must be accompanied by adults. Sessions are £2 per person.
GET on down to Dunwood Park for the Art in the Park event on Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Join in with scarecrow-making and artwork to celebrate the park’s birthday in September. There will also be an art trail to follow.
COUNTRYSIDE Rangers are ready to banish the holiday blues at Tandle Hill Park. The Wild Wednesday event takes place on August 15. Call 0161-770 4065 to book a place.
FOR a spot of orienteering meet at Brushes Clough car park in Crompton Moor from 1 to 3pm on Thursday, August 23. Maps and equipment will be provided for all families who take part. Children should be over seven years old and everyone should bring suitable footwear and a drink.
TWENTY traders have so far signed up for the Royton Real Food Market. The stalls, held on Royton Precinct, will run from noon to 3pm on Sunday, September 2.
BLOOD donors are required for sessions between 1.15 and 3.30pm and 5.15 to 7.30pm on Friday, September 7, at Royton’s Trinity Methodist Church.
