Coffee morning

Shaw British Legion, in Newtown Street, is hosting a coffee morning on Saturday, from 9 to 11am, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
SHAW and Crompton Children’s Centre, in High Street, Shaw, and its Parents’ Forum are holding a Santa, Stop and Shop on Friday to coincide with the Shaw Christmas lights switch on. From 5pm it will host stalls, craft activities, face painting and tombolas.
A TRADITIONAL Victorian Christmas fair is taking place at Laurel Bank Day Care Centre in Kershaw Street, Shaw, from 11am to 3pm on Saturday. There will be a grotto, games, tombola, bric-a-brac and various charity stalls.
BLACKSHAW Lane Primary School raised £244 for Children in Need by dressing in rainbow colours for the day and buying Pudsey wristbands.
SIX new sites have been identified for a district community toilet scheme. Once the new sites have been agreed, the scheme could start in January. Part of the scheme includes better signs for existing toilets, highlighting where baby changing and other facilities are available.
CROMPTON House School sent 170 shoeboxes full of goodies to charity Samaritan’s Purse. The boxes will go to Belarus, Ukraine or Serbia.
THE next craft, knit and natter group is running at St Anne’s Church in Royton, from 1.30pm on December 4.
MOTORISTS can have tamper-proof screws fitted free to stop number plate thefts, and receive crime prevention advice from neighbourhood officers, at Elk Mill retail park, from 10am-4pm on Tuesday, December 11.
