Candlelit carols

TRINITY Methodist Church in Royton is holding a carols by candlelight service from 7pm on Wednesday, December 19.

Donations to be given to the Salvation Army’s Christmas appeal.


SIX new sites have been identified for a district community toilet scheme in Royton, Shaw and Crompton. Once the new sites have been agreed, the scheme could start in January, 2013.


ENJOY some free time in Royton Youth Centre with pool tables, youth club games and workshops. Suitable for ages 13-19, sessions are just 30p and run on Tuesdays to Fridays from 6-9pm.


AN OVER-50s Friendship Group, aiming to end loneliness and isolation, is taking place at The Railway, Royton. Meet on Sunday, December 30, from noon.


CROMPTON House School’s class of 1979 are holding a Seventies-themed reunion on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at The Cartshaft Working Men’s Club, St Marygate, Shaw, from 8pm. Contact Debi Hawkins (nee Nicholson) for details at debihawkins@yahoo.co.uk. Admission is £5 per person.


SHAW Playhouse 2 is hosting “The Muppet Christmas Carol” on Saturday, December 22. Father Christmas will be there from 3pm, with the film starting at 4.30pm. Tickets are £2.50 with proceeds going to the Ecuador fund-raising project of Crompton House School.


ST ANNE’S Church in Royton is holding a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from 6pm on Sunday, December 23. Poinsettas can be sponsored for a minimum of £3 and can be dedicated in memory of loved ones.


DR Kershaw’s market is back with a festive twist at the Turf Lane facility in Royton on Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
