ROYTON Local History Society is hosting a tale of Sir Thomas Tyldesley — one of the finest knights in England — all about his involvement in the civil wars.
Meet at Downey House, Royton, from 7.30pm on Monday, January 14, 2013.
POLICE are asking motorists to be vigilant about locking and alarming cars. There were 45 thefts from vehicles recorded in October and November, compared with 19 in the same period last year.
ST ANNE’S Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols takes place at St Anne’s Church, Royton, from 6pm on Sunday.
A CHRISTMAS market is taking place in Royton Precinct from 11am to 3pm on Sunday.
POLICE surgeries are held every Thursday from 10am to noon at Trinity Methodist Church, Radcliffe Street, Royton, and from 9.30 to 11.30am at Crompton Library, Farrow Street East, Shaw. Purse bells are being given away for free in a bid to combat pick-pockets.
CROMPTON House School’s class of 1979 are holding a Seventies-themed reunion on Saturday, January 5, at Cartshaft Working Men’s Club, St Marygate, Shaw, from 8pm. Admission is £5 per person. Email debihawkins@yahoo.co.uk for more information.
THE Muppets Christmas Carol is showing at Playhouse 2, from 4.30pm on Saturday, December 22. Doors open at 3pm for a visit to Santa’s Grotto. All funds will go towards the Camp Ecuador trip at Crompton House School. Tickets are £2.50 on the door.
