Gifts wanted

THE Old Grey Mare, Royton, is appealing for donations of prizes or unwanted Christmas gifts to raffle off in aid of Macmillan Nurses.

A fundraising event will be held on May 5. Items can be handed in at the pub or contact organiser Angela Collier on 0161-626 1220.


SHAW Playhouse is showing “Pretty Woman” to boost funds for Lorna Barry’s Camp Ecuador expedition. The bar opens at 7pm, with the film starting at 8pm on Friday next week. Tickets are available from Interiors on Market Street, Shaw, or pay on the door.


ST ANNE’S Church, Royton, is hosting a music night at 7.30pm tomorrow. Singers from the Royal Northern College of Music will perform a variety of hits from musicals at the church, in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice, the church and Royton and Crompton Rotary Club. Tickets are available from the church or Dr Kershaw’s.

FUNDRAISERS Della and James Wright from Royton, have collected a further £635 for Children with Cancer UK. Della was dressed as Little Miss Chatterbox as the pair shook buckets in Oldham town centre, outside Co-op in Royton and at Asda in Rochdale. NEED help with that schoolwork? Royton Library is hosting a Homework Help Power Hour for primary children at 3.30pm on Wednesday nect week.

SHAW & Crompton Parish Council is collecting unwanted gifts that would be suitable for tombola or raffle prizes in aid of its chairman’s chosen charities. Donations can be dropped off at the parish council office in High Street, Shaw, between 9.30am-3pm Monday to Friday.
