A DAFFODIL tea will be held at Shaw Salvation Army, Farrow Street, on Saturday from 3 to 5pm. All welcome.
ROYTON Local History Society’s next talk is about Dunham Massey Hall in Cheshire and anecdotes about it, including a Victorian romance, a royal connection and a scandal. It takes place at 7.30pm on Monday, April 8 at Downey House.
A FAIRTRADE stall at Royton’s Trinity Methodist Church on Thursday last week, raised £177.24 for Traidcraft, which helps lift Third World farmers out of poverty by getting a fair price for their produce.

A WOMEN’S Day of Prayer event held at Shaw Salvation Army on Friday, March 1, raised £281.91 which will be added to a national total for distribution among several charities.
THE Rev Liz Devall of St Anne’s Royton, has been appointed the next priest-in-charge of St John the Evangelist in Hurst, Ashton. Her last day at St Anne’s is June 2.
COUNCILLORS Howard Sykes, Rod Blyth and Mark Alcock will be holding a Shaw advice surgery on Thursday nexy week. It takes place from 7.30pm at the Lifelong Learning Centre in Shaw.
A Zumba, dance & fun event is taking place in aid of Dr Kershaw's Hospice. The event, organised by Slimming World Shaw and Anna's Dance, takes place at The Royal British Legion in Shaw, from noon-2pm on Sunday. The cost is £5 per person.
