CROMPTON Local History Society will not be having a meeting tonight as they have been unable to get a speaker.


OLYMPIAN Dorothy Shirley Emerson is doing a continuation of her January talk. Royton Townswomen’s Guild is holding the meeting at 7.30pm on Tuesday, May 14, upstairs in Royton Town Hall.

ROYTON Local History Society is giving a talk on what our ancestors ate on Monday, May 13. Jan Dawson will look at three centuries of British food, including what a ploughman really had for lunch. The group meets at Downey House in Royton from 7.30pm.


FLOATING housing support is on offer at Crompton Library. The free advice sessions run from 10am-noon on Tuesday, May 2.


THE Royal Oldham League of Friends has organised a concert by the group Musical Friends which is to take place on Saturday, May 11. It takes pace at Tara Leisure in Shaw at 8pm. Tickets are £8 and are available from Rose on 0161-652 1049 or pay on the door.

COUNCILLOR Diane Williamson will be holding an advice surgery for the Crompton ward at 7.30-8.30pm tonight. Parish councillors Dave Murphy and Susan Eckersley will also be in attendance. Visit them at Shaw’s Lifelong Learning Centre in High Street.
