Choir contest

ST JAMES’S Church is organising a children’s choir contest drawing from primary schools in Shaw, on Friday, October 18.
They will be playing for the Ian Walker Trophy in memory of church figure Ian Walker who died seven years ago and was well known for his role in the choir during his lifetime.
All the proceeds will go towards repairing the church’s leaking roof. Contact Audrey Walker on 01706 840225 for more information.
A QUIZ between Shaw and Crompton and Saddleworth parishes takes place at East Crompton, St James parish rooms in Shaw on Friday, October 25, at 7.30pm. All money raised will go to the Parish Council chairman’s selected charities.
CROMPTON House school are congratulating Gordon Main who was elected as chair of governors on Tuesday. Paul Needham was also elected as vice-chair.
WARDLE Anderson Brass band, featuring soprano Elizabeth Phillips will play at the Playhouse2 in Shaw on Saturday, November 9.
