PART of the southern footway of High Street, near to its junction with Crompton Way, could stay closed until Sunday. The footpath remains closed as work is undertaken on replacing a gas main.



WARDLE Anderson Brass Band, featuring soprano Elizabeth Phillips, will appear at the Playhouse2 Theatre, Shaw on Saturday, November 9, at 7.30pm. The Night of the Proms is in aid of the Shaw Parish Council chairman’s charities, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and the RNLI. Tickets are available from Interiors on Market Street, Shaw.



SCHOOL’S out at Crompton House on Monday for a staff inset day. The only exception is for students on the Year 10 Blencathra trip, who are still expected to attend.



A QUIZ between Shaw and Saddleworth will take place at the St James Parish rooms, East Crompton, on Friday, October 25, at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £5 and include a potato-pie supper. IT’S bounce and rhyme time at Crompton Library on Tuesday, from 2 to 3pm. The free session is aimed at babies and give parents and their children the chance to interact with others and enjoy songs, stories, rhymes and sensory play. GREENSWAY Holdings has been granted permission to convert a former night club at numbers 12-20 Milnrow Road into five apartments. New front and rear entrances will be constructed as well as storage facilities in the existing basement under numbers 14 to 16.
