Icing on the cake

A CAKE sale and collection at St Mark’s Church in Heyside raised an impressive £225. Organisers of the event, held for the Women’s World Day of Prayer charity, thank all who donated.
ENJOY a bacon butty, tombola, coffee and more from 10am on Saturday at the Duke of York in Heyside. Admission is £2 with proceeds going to Royton and Shaw Local Community Cancer Research UK.
SHORE Edge Methodist Church in Shaw hosts a spring fair on Saturday. There will be cakes, raffles and stalls galore between 10am-2pm. Entry is £1 which includes a free hot drink.
YEAR 11 pupils at Crompton House School have raised more than £3,000 for Christie’s Young Oncology Unit.
A QUIZ night is taking place at St Anne’s Church, Royton, from 7.30pm tomorrow. The £3 admission includes supper and proceeds go to church funds.
A POTATO/cheese pie supper will accompany a night of music by the Alan Bracewell Big Band. The show at 7.30pm on Thursday, next week, takes place at the Oddies Club, Union Street, with proceeds going to Marie Curie Cancer. Tickets are £6. Call Dorothy Holt on 0161-626 4466.
HELP raise cash for Sport Relief at a quiz night at Royton Band Club on April 5. Chaddy the Owl will be on hand from 7pm to help with a raffle, face-painting and a buffet. Contact Matt Mullen for tickets on 07743107171 or pay on the door.
