Rack a ruin

Vandals ripped up this new bike rack
VANDALS used brute force to rip up a metal bike rack in Royton.
The rack, near Radcliffe Street car park, was wrenched from the ground and tipped over on to the pavement.
A resident who witnessed the damage said: “It must have been a load of kids getting together and giving it a great big pull — but it’s a great big lump of concrete to get out of the ground.”
Only a week ago thieves stole a six-foot bench from the junction of Ashton Road and Dowry Street, Hathershaw.
It would have taken two people to cut the securing bolts and lift the bench, according to Oldham Council.
Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
