Hospice concert

AN all-day concert and fun day is taking place in Royton in aid of Dr Kershaw’s Hospice. Absent Friends are holding their sixth event of its kind from noon until midnight at the Band Club with an after-party at Players Bar until 3am on Sunday.


A GHOST hunt in aid of the Shaw blast victims has been cancelled. Medium Kevin Brough had been due to lead the spooky investigation at Smithills Hall on Bolton on Sunday. Refunds for the tickets are being arranged.

GIVE blood during sessions at Royton’s Trinity Methodist Church between 1.15 and 3.30pm and 5.15 and 7.30pm on Friday, September 7.

OLDHAM Parks and Countryside Service is holding a free medium-difficulty history walk around Crompton Moor from 1-3.30pm on Sunday. Meet at Brushes Clough car park wearing suitable footwear and clothing.

HOOK-A-DUCK and decorate-a-cake are just a couple of the stalls on offer at Shaw and Crompton Youth Centre’s family fun day which runs until 3pm today.

DR Ian Saunders is giving an illustrated talk on the history of navigation, entitled “Where in the world are we?” The presentation, organised by Crompton Local History Society, takes place from 7.30pm on Thursday, August 30, at Crompton Library. Entry is £1 including refreshments.

TRADERS are raring to go for the Royton Real Food Market which starts at Royton Precinct from noon on Sunday, September 2.

ST ANNE’S Church in Royton is collecting good-condition items to sell on ebay, to raise money for their overall funds. Anyone can donate items by taking them along to the church.
