Dirty curry house shame

A ROYTON curry house nominated several times for Oldham’s Curry Chef of the Year award is being prosecuted over its food hygiene standards.
Council inspectors found flies swarming over food prep areas, a fly-killer that allowed dead insects to fall on to cooking surfaces and “general dirtiness” at Royton Tandoori in Oldham Road on a visit in August, 2011. The owners pleaded guilty to nine charges under the Food Hygiene Act.
Inspectors also found tin-openers encrusted with food debris and filthy chopping boards, badly-cleaned washing areas and cooking staff in dirty clothing.
Owners of Naz’s Limited, which owns the curry house, will be sentenced on October 4.
