PLACES are now being booked for a crafts and table-top sale at Shaw United Reformed Church, Rochdale Road.


The event takes place from 9.30am-12.30pm on Saturday, July 6. To book a spot call 01706-844 899.


FIRST Shaw scouts meet on Monday evenings between 6.15 and 7.30pm at St Joseph’s Parish Centre in Shaw. Anyone aged six to eight who is interested in becoming a beaver can contact Louise on 07854-455 448.


SPEAKER John Fiddler is set to fascinate Crompton Local History Society with his talk on the bombing of Oldham, 1941. Admission is £1 to join the meeting at Crompton Library, from 7.30pm on Thursday, June 27. Refreshments available.



A CONCERT for Jamie takes place at Royton Cricket Club from 2pm until late on Saturday. The fun day for all the family will include live music and aims to raise cash in memory of toddler Jamie Heaton, who was killed in the Shaw gas blast.



ROYTON Townswomen’s Guild is hosting its national AGM and silent auction from 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 9. Admission is £1 for the session at Royton Town Hall.



BUSINESS is booming for Cissy Barlow’s Traditional Sweet Shop which has moved one block nearer to Shaw. It has moved to larger premises, taken on an extra shop assistant and is now situated opposite Armstrong’s Chippy at 48 Market Street.



THE Halfway House pub in Royton is holding a Help for Heroes evening on Saturday, June 29. To celebrate Armed Forces Day the pub is having a war-time theme night with ration cards, bunting and a Frank Sinatra impersonator.
