Sleigh bells ring round Royton

SANTA will tour Royton as part of the annual Christmas Cash Collection, organised by the Rotary Club of Crompton and Royton.
Father Christmas will travel on his festive float on Thursday, from 6.30 to 8.30pm, touring Netherhay Lane, Holderness Drive, Cavendish Way, Cambrian Drive, Lea View, Alpine Drive, Mendips Close and Cleveland Grove. He will also tour Heyside on Friday from Penryn Avenue, Helston Avenue, Cornish Way, Heyside Avenue, Bodmin Close, Blackshaw Lane and Rushbury Drive.
The fundraising event will finish on Saturday at Royton’s Co-op store, where Father Christmas will visit from 10am to 2pm.
POLICE have issued a warning after reports of a bogus caller knocking on doors demanding council tax payments. The man claims to be from First Choice Homes. Anyone with further information should call police on 101.
TAKE a nostalgic and humorous look into banking in the 1950s and ’60s as Alan Hayhurst presents a talk at Royton Local History Society on Monday, December 14. The talk, entitled “Banking in a Gentler Age” will take place at 7.30pm at Downey House, Church Street, Royton. Members free, visitors £1.50 including festive refreshments.
