Neighbourhood getting together
Date published: 18 April 2011
FESTIVAL fever is gearing up in Hollinwood after the date of this year’s Hollinwood Together Festival was announced — Sunday, July 10.
Now in its fifth year, the festival is organised by Contour Homes, Regenda, Oldham Council and St Margaret’s and St Chad’s church and aims to bring together the Hollinwood community for a day of fun.
Father David Hawthorn, from St Margaret’s Church, said: “We’re hoping that this year’s festival will be even better than last year, bringing together the whole community with the theme ‘Your Neighbourhood’.”
“A number of agencies across Oldham, such as the Extended Schools programme, are working with us to make it a success.”
On the day, after a service at St Margaret’s Church, in Chapel Road, at 10am, a procession will head through the streets of Hollinwood to Limeside Park, in First Avenue.
All local schools, churches, community groups and individuals have been invited to take part and to bring a flag or banner which represents their organisation.
The procession will finish in Limeside Park where there will be a range of activities for all the family including live bands, singers, a tombola, fairground rides, face painting, food stalls, other stalls and an “information market”.
