Thirteen dispensers of the gel used to kill off cockroaches were stolen in the raid
A cockroach-killing gel potentially toxic to human has been stolen in a break-in at Chadderton Town Hall.
Thieves smashed their way into the Environmental Health Agency offices through a window and stole a locked metal container holding 13 dispensers of Du Pont Advion Cockroach Gel, each with 30g of gel inside.
The gel is used to kill the bugs and could be toxic to humans if ingested. It can also cause major skin irritations.
Police are appealing for information about the burglary, which occurred between 9am on Monday, January 9, and 7.50am the following day.
PC Craig Bowring said: “What reason they took it I do not know. I want people — and the thieves themselves — to be very careful when handling this gel. If anyone should find it, don’t attempt to open the dispensers. Return them to your nearest police station.”
Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4666 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
