Bogus police gang attack pensioner
Date published: 05 March 2012
A pensioner was robbed and attacked after answering his door to a bogus policeman. The offender, wearing a high visibility jacket and hat, called at the house in Rookwood, Chadderton, late on Thursday night.
Three other men then burst in and the occupant was threatened with a screwdriver and punched in the face several times by two of the men, who stole cash and ran off down an alleyway towards the canal.
Supt Nadeem Butt of Oldham police said: “If anyone has any information I would urge them to contact us. The victim opened his door thinking the man was a police officer.”
One offender is described as white, 6ft 2in tall, in his early 20s and of thin build. The second offender was white, 5ft 2in tall, about 18 and of thin build. Two others were about 5ft 7in tall and of thin build. Anyone with information is asked to call Oldham CID on 0161-856 8951, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
