Date published: 09 March 2012
A BAD tempered gambler twice smashed up gambling machines in a Chadderton bookies after losing money.
Mirja Shamin Beig (43), of Colwyn Street, Oldham, admitted two charges of criminal damage at Oldham Magistrates Court.
Last June, Beig smashed two screens of a gambling machine at Ladbrokes in Chadderton with a stool after losing money. He did £2,300 of damage.
He did the same again this January, smashing three machines before walking off — this time causing £7,500 of damage.
Beig was ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months and to pay £2,800 compensation to Ladbrokes.
