A TEENAGE rising star has shown she really is top brass by doing a musical double.
Flugel player Romana Hallstead has just been accepted to play with the North West area champions, the Leyland Brass Band.
And within days of finding out she’d secured her place, the North Chadderton pupil was also told she’d been chosen to play in the National Youth Brass Band.
Proud dad Martyn said: “She is such a hard worker and we are so pleased for her.
“Romana found out about both within days so it was great news.
“Of course it means I’ll be the typical dad, taxiing her around everywhere but I don’t mind — I’m just so happy she has done well.”
Romana (14), who practises three nights a week and studies at the Royal College of Music on Saturdays, will now travel to various prestigious concerts around the country.
Her first assignment will be to attend a week-long Easter course that will culminate in two concerts at the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare and at the Cadogan Hall in London.
