Hopeful... Grace Clarke has won a place at Redroofs Theatre School
A BUDDING young actress is hoping to tread the boards at the famous theatre school attended by Oscar and Bafta-winner Kate Winslet.
Grace Clarke (10), from Chadderton, was selected from hundreds on children to attend Redroofs — a school which offers full-time education from Year 6 to sixth form level, with specialist training in acting and musical theatre.
The school, in Maidenhead, only takes 15 children in each year group and sendw its students to London auditions.
Grace’s mum, Roberta Knox, is proud her daughter has been picked.
In a formal letter from the school, the Holy Rosary pupil was praised for her “strong technical audition” given her age, as well as an “outstanding dance ability.”
But she must fund the position herself — at £10,500 a year.
Ms Knox said: “I’m a single-working mum and I’m helping her all I can, but I hope there is someone out there who can help.”
