FIFTY years of the Rotary Club of Chadderton and Failsworth were celebrated in style by members at the Bower Hotel.
The Chadderton town crier, Reg Lord, helped mark the special occasion before 120 rotarians and guests tucked into a dinner and toasted their success.
President Duncan Dearden also became a Paul Harris Fellow on the night — the highest honour bestowed on Rotarians.
Mr Dearden is the longest serving member of the club and has played a very active role in projects, particularly associated with encouraging young people to achieve in their chosen areas of interest.
First meeting on April 13, 1961, it took almost a year for the group to become an official Rotary club.
Members have since organised countless events and raised thousands of pounds to help local, national and international causes.
