A taste of the exotic

CHADDERTON Hall Junior School pupils wore bright colours and tasted exotic fruits at an Amazonian fund-raising event.
They raised £129 to help Crompton House pupil Lorna Barry fund her expedition to Ecuador with the school.
BAG a bargain at a garage sale at 56 Haigh Lane from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, August 4. Pride in Oldham winner Iris Last and her husband, Roy, organise the annual event to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
CHILDREN aged five to 13 can take part in free, organised play sessions at the Mona Estate park, Mona Road, from 1 to 3pm every Friday until August 30. Under-8s must be accompanied by an adult.
BUDDING stars can take centre stage at St Herbert’s Learning Centre, Edward Street. It is running a performing-arts club for four to 11-year-olds from 1.30 to 3.30pm on Tuesday and Friday afternoons during the first four weeks of the school holidays. Sessions cost £5. SPORTY youngsters can try new activities at an Olympic fun day at Coalshaw Green Park from 1 to 3pm next Wednesday. The free event is for five to 16-year-olds, but under-8s must be accompanied by an adult.
SING along to your favourite hymns and anthems at the Old Sing events at Healds Green Methodist Church at 2.30 and 6pm on Sunday, August 5.
YEW Tree Primary School, Alcester Street, is running a summer football camp for seven to 11-year-olds next week. Sessions run from 10am to noon and cost £2. For details contact Claire Marshall on 0161-770 4051.
