TUCK into goodies and raise money at a Thornton’s Chocolate Night organised by the Chadderton and Oldham committee of Cancer Research UK.
It takes place at Werneth Cricket Club at 7.30pm on November 22 and activities include tasting, an icing competition, a quiz and a raffle. Admission is £6. Contact Iris Last for details on 0161-624 5584.
YOUNG business brains will be hoping to scoop £20 to start up their own companies in a Dragons’ Den event at Christ Church Primary School, Crawley Street, on Friday. The judges include industry experts and the winning team will have a stall at the school’s Christmas fair. The event is part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.
NICHOLAS Radclyffe, the grandson of the last lord of the manor of Chadderton and Foxdenton, is the new patron of Chadderton Historical Society. The latest archive material donated to the society includes commemorative plates showing Chadderton public buildings and cuttings about Joseph Ball, who owned Chadderton Hall Menagerie in the late 19th century.
THE traditional proclamation will be made by town crier Reg Lord on the steps of Chadderton Town Hall on November 27 at noon to mark Lancashire Day.
CHADDERTON’S Christmas lights will be turned on outside the town hall at 6.30pm on Friday, November 30. A Christmas market runs from noon to 7pm in the precinct and the day finishes with a firework display at Chadderton Football Club, Andrew Street.
Linda Creasey from the BT metal theft taskforce is the guest speaker at the Chadderton Home Watch meeting, on Tuesday, November 13, at Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, Burnley Street, at 7.30pm.
