FIND out more about the building of the “big ditch” at the next meeting of Chadderton Historical Society on January 3, 2013.
Guest speaker Glen Atkinson will chart the construction of Manchester Ship Canal at Chadderton FC on Andrew Street at 7.30pm.
TAKE up a new hobby in the New Year. A free knit and natter group meets at Chadderton Library, Burnley Street, from 2 to 3pm on January 16, 2013. Beginners and experienced knitters are welcome.
CHILDREN who were inspired by the Olympics can take part in fun track and field events at Radclyffe Athletics Centre, Hunt Lane, from 6 to 7pm on Mondays. Sessions cost £1.60 and are run by Oldham Rockets, part of Oldham and Royton Harriers.
THE Indish restaurant and wine bar, Jardine Way, has applied for planning permission for several extensions, including an outdoor smoking area.
FAMILIES can get fit at a range of classes at Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, Burnley Street. Children aged over 11 can now attend if accompanied by an adult.
THE Park Estate committee meets at 1 Penzance Place, Parkway, from 7 to 8pm on January 16, 2013. New members are welcome to attend.
THE ROC Centre, Kent Avenue, Crossley Estate, runs free dance and drama workshops for eight to 20-year-olds on Tuesdays. Call 0161-628 0112.
CHILDREN can take part in free craft and sports sessions in Coalshaw Green Park from 5.30 to 7.30pm on Friday. Under-eights must be accompanied by an adult.
