HISTORY pupils from The Radclyffe School, Hunt Lane, visited Quarry Bank Mill, Styal.
They were asked interpret their surroundings as part of their GCSE marks. Teacher Mike Cunliffe said: “The visit gave the students a fantastic insight into what life was like for mill workers, including an idea of the atmosphere of a working mill.”
PARENTS at Yew Tree Primary School, Alcester Street, can find out more about the welfare reform changes on Friday. Representatives from organisations such as First Choice Homes Oldham and the Get Oldham Working campaign will be at the Make the Most of your Money event organised by Oldham Council. It runs from 3.15 to 4.15pm.
PATCHWORK Parade is holding a fund-raising day in aid of The Christie Hospital from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, May 18. Events at the shop at Q House, Russell Street, include an exhibition, raffles, cake stall, book sale and refreshments. Entry is £1, with 10 per cent of all fabric sales going to the hospital.
